Dear State Senate Candidate,
On behalf of Minnesota’s credit unions and
their 1.7 million members, I would like to congratulate you on your candidacy
for elected office in Minnesota. Running for office shows a true dedication to
your community.
The Minnesota Credit Union Network is the
trade association for Minnesota’s credit unions. Credit unions are an important
part of Minnesota because they return profits to their members and, in turn,
encourage community and economic growth.
Credit unions are member-owned,
not-for-profit cooperatives that were formed to provide members with the
opportunity to pool their savings, lend to one another, and own the organization
where they save, borrow and obtain financial services. As not-for-profit
cooperatives, credit unions return profits to members in the form of fewer fees
for services, lower interest rates on loans, higher returns on savings and
improved service to members.
In order to help Minnesota credit unions
understand you and your candidacy better, MnCUN has developed a candidate
survey. This survey has been sent to all individuals running for elected office
to determine each candidate’s level of support for credit unions.
Please
access the survey online here. If you prefer, a paper version of the survey
will be made available upon request.
The survey results will be shared with our
credit unions for inclusion in local newsletters.
As you prepare to deal with the many
issues facing our great state, I invite you to contact me any time. MnCUN and
Minnesota credit unions can be helpful to you in your race and beyond. Best
wishes on your campaign.
Regards,
Ryan Smith
